I find it a little strange that I'm not getting many answers to my questions for some reason.

My 'Progress' post had 48 views the last time I looked.
My 'Stupid newbie question' had 36 views.

NOTHING?

Am I wording something wrong or what?

It's all about presentation. Instead of 'Stupid newbie question' try 'Here be pictures of nakedness'. Or somesuch.

Hi Argoaut,

Sorry you haven't had any replies, not much of a welcome is it?

I'm sorry but I have no experience of bike you're building otherwise I'd make comment.

Please don't let the lack of response put you off the forum, it is a friendly place and I am surprised you haven't had any replies.

Argonaut, welcome to the forum but don't be put off by the lack of response, this happens sometimes to all of our posts. I would suggest putting the 'stupid newbie' post into the Know How section and make the heading a little different ie, Headstock question. Hope that works for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

'Stupid newbie question' = something boring that you have all seen thousands of times before. Can't be bothered to even look.

'Difficult technical question about headsets/bottom brackets etc.' = Hmmm, that sounds interesting, let's take a peak.

Welcome btw!!

having looked at the threads in question i remember reading them first time around.

i would have answered, but it's an MTB, so no idea!!!!!

I'd say the majority of people on here are riding road bikes, hybrids and tourers....

Hi Argonaut

Apologies, I've only just read your other posts, I have tried to help with some thoughts, advice, I'll keep an eye out for you posts, keep us update with your bike build. I've currently got two MTB, Hard Tail and Full Sus and my other half's Hardtail to look after, very little I haven't done in terms of fixing bikes, and I do spend too much time reading stuff about MTB components. I recently (2.5years ago) came back into serious cycling when I bought a second hand hard tail and started to enjoy trail centre and natural off road cycling, this did mean that I had to learn about all of the new fangled stuff that has appeared since I was racing on the road years ago.

I was recently quite critical of many on this forum for being far more interested in Politics or enviroment stuff than cycling, to prove a point try posting something about whether Mrs Thatcher should have a state funeral, or is man really heating up the planet in the Politics section and see how many replies you then get, however don't get put off, there are quite a few on this forum who find MBR magazine more interesting than the Guardian, and I will certainly try to help you.

Hopefully you'll get a bit more help in the future so don't be put off posting.

Have Fun

Giles

Hi Argonaut,

I've recently removed the Politics and Life forum from the main search results as quite a few people have mentioned that it can dominate the topics when they're trying to find cycling related stuff.

You could also try the MTB part of the forums too - I know it's not as busy as some of the other parts of the forum, but your postings would help it along.

Cheers,
Shaun

Ah, yes, I forgot to mention it to the P&L regulars - I'll sort that out.

Cheers,
Shaun

PS. I've just checked, and not only has it removed P&L from the main search results, it has turned off searching for the whole of the P&L forum. Not what I intended. I'll look into that when I get chance.

Sex scandal as Boris Johnson gives free bikes to nude celebrities who condemn Islam, says Daily Mail" would work quite well.
