Puch bikes were generally cheap & cheerful gas pipe jobs, built down to a price in order to undercut brands like Raleigh.

It was years before I realised that 'puke' was not in fact the correct pronunciation.

Are there any local small auction houses nearby?

Just have a look at their stock. On of the places near me ways has a pile of bikes selling for tens of pounds. Almost disposable.
