He's never been a favourite of mine but with his recent rant, he ticks all my boxes, he particularly nails the odious 'skid mar on the face of journalism', Kelvin MacKenzie! I'd like to see that snivelling rat nailed, literally.

I'm not a big fan of his but yes he ticks all my boxes too...i think his book would be an interesting read

And he's an animal lover, so I just have to like him!
Did any of you see his recent series on ITV about the Battersea Cat and Dogs Home, centring on the dogs? He genuinely cared about the dogs and wasn't just there for the publicity, he wanted to be there to help...... and take a few of the dogs he fell in love with home in the process, but had tell the staff not to let him have any more!

Of course, if you ever saw his late afternoon show, he had his dogs on it all the time. There he'd be interviewing someone and Olga or one of the others would be there beside him or going off for a little wander round the set, generally distracting everyone and so on. Certainly no heirs and graces there, that's for sure!

He was being interviewed by Richard Bacon earlier this week and said, for some obscure reason, the BCDH had found homes for 5,000 more animals than the usual amount in the immediate aftermath of that ITV programme!

Agreed, I like his radio show.
next time you ascend the Beacon in the company of my (very much) better half, mention Paul O'Grady to her. And make yourself scarce. I think the nine weeks she spent on tour, production managing 'Paul O'Grady's America' were...interesting.

Many of us will admire the sentiments in the Indy piece, but he's showbiz. What you see is what he wants you to see. Some of the stuff you don't see is pretty awful.

I meant that he wasn't just there seeking publicity for himself, he just wanted to help them (which in the process probably has given him some publicity, including his appearance at Crufts...so... oh right, I see...).

That said, if you were a real dog lover, then surely you would mention what you had just been responsible for too? Providing the figures are correct of course, but even one dog getting a new home out of it is a victory. If the figures are correct surely it would be a case of personal pride as a pose to just pure shameless publicity and all that, and even if they aren't surely it will still be a good thing for most/all of the dogs involved, particularly in the run up to Christmas when they always need more space than usual anyway?

And that is it in a nutshell, he (like the journo) has an agenda, that being to sell his image (paper) to the public
