Not a commuting story but I thought UK commuters might be envious
I was out on my morning ride this morning, approaching a small town. I could see a car coming down a road ahead to my right. As I approached the intersection, spidey sense made me suspect they weren't going to stop (not a priorité a droit intersection, there was a yeild sign) so as there was no oncoming traffic, I moved to the left lane. Sure enough, the driver does a nominal check to their right and carries on out, only seeing me as I'm riding alongside the driver's door. The look on their face! They clearly hadn't seen me!
Anyways, they drive a few yards forward, stop, wind down the window.... and apologise to me! They said "I'm sorry, I didn't look"... not 'I didn't see you' but "I didn't look". I did wonder, as the window was being wound down, whether I was about to get some abuse so I obviously still have some expectations based on London experience left in me!
