He speaks well about cycling. Good luck to him, and I hope his appointment makes a positive difference for all cycletraffic in London.
Let's start with a concerted effort to keep a minimum 1.2 + metre band of tarmac in perfect condition adjacent to every kerb in the metropolis. The ability to cycle in a reasonably straight line without sudden avoidance or expensive damage to wheels/tyres/tubes - or worse - is one of your key aims, Andrew...go for it!
Then you nail with heavy fines and disqualification all drivers who use mobile phones by employing policemen to cycle down the traffic lines...just like we do. Hit them hard. Go for it!
And then do the same for ignorant cyclists who think they are above the laws that control other road traffic. Go for it!
After that, we'll ask you to get rid of the Barclays branding on the roads and reinstate tarmac - as above.
Do not offer a job to Lance Armstrong under any circumstances. Ta.
