Started at 8pm on BBC1 - worth watching on iplayer when it's available for the rickshaws in Dakar, and Marr riding a Boris Bike in London, as part of transport theme. He obviously thinks bikes are A Good Thing.

Also worth seeing how Mexican motorbike cops deal with a broken down car blocking a freeway...

Even Mrs Norm was impressed with that. Although I didn't think much of his attempt to introduce drama at the beginning of that particular piece.

I'm sure I remember reading about a guy from Asia who got a place at Bangor University so, relieved he could fly there direct, he booked his flight to Bangor - Maine, USA and presumably he got there wondering where the University was!

I have just watched episode 1 on iplayer. IMO
  • insightful intro with the stats re urbanisation and the rate of change globally but could have been better presented with charts etc rather than voice over
  • brilliant photograhpy
  • full marks for the social anthropology effort in Bangladesh
  • Marr seems less odd than on previous occasions - has he changed or have I become accustomed to his oddities?
Will watch next epiosode,

It's a classic shipping mistake.

Not quite as exotic, but we've had 'I know where everywhere is' lorry drivers in the past that rang from Haslemere to ask where the site was as they couldn't find it only to be told that is was 50 miles up the road in Hazlemere!
