I think there's a reasonable argument to suggest he dominated tennis in the 80s. ;)

How can he have dominated when he did not win a Wimbledon?

Lendl was a top player in that era but never dominant like a Sampras or Federer.

Is it wrong to say there's more to tennis than Wimbledon?

No but Wimbledon is one of the Grand Slam tournements and many would say world's premier tournament.

How many Grand Slams did Lendll win in the 1980'? I'm not saying that he wasn't a great player, he was. But hardly dominant imo.

Me too now!

Ok can we agree he dominated the second half of the 80s? ;)

He was certainly very impressive and I wish I could play to anything like the same standard. It's a shame he never turned up for the Albert Hall senior competition. I go most years and love watching McEnroe and the others from that era.

I remember watching Lendl playing Macenroe, Mac was standing so far back for Lendls serve that Lendl casually knocked it over the net and McEnroe couldn't get to it. One of the funniest things i have seen in a tennis match.
He was pretty dominant in the latter half of the Eighties. Never got on with grass courts though.

I'm more of Bjorn Borg man myself so to speak.

So was I at the time and never liked McEnroe for that reason. BUT I have warmed to him in recent years. I was also a fan of Jimmy Conners.
