Annoying squeak, lesson learnt

Hello all, not question but a quick description of a lesson learnt tracking down a squeak.

Planet X pro-carbon road bike. Built up by myself earlier this year. Last couple of weeks it developed a bad squeak when out of the saddle. I took care to apply grease & carbon assembly paste when putting it together so I was disappointed when this noise erupted everytime I gave it some wellie!

It's always hard to hear exactly where these things are coming from. But it seemed to be from the front of the bike. So gave the headset a quick inspection & re-greased the top of the headset. No joy.
I bit the bullet & changed the bottom bracket. No joy.
Sprayed the SPD's...no joy.
Pulled headset apart again & re-greased lower bearing on headset...still no joy.

Whilst contemplating what surfaces could be rubbing together I looked at the wheel to fork surfaces. My wife also voiced this opinion. So a light application of grease to the fork location faces & wheel locations.....job done.
Only sound was me panting away after numerous test rides. A very cheap solution if only I'd thought of it first.

My wife now claims to have fixed my bike. I conceded this............

its possible it wasn't quite seated properly, I had a similar problem, did everything then did a drop test and a very slight knocking showed up, turned out to be the Q.R. would quite tighten properly not lose as such as in the wheel was secure (or seemed so) have a couple knocking about this cured the problem, so went and got a new set.
