I currently have a Specialized Secteur 2013 Triple road bike which was bought 1 year ago as my first ever leap into cycling apart from an old Mtb as a kid. I now have the cycling bug and am churning out the miles at around 100 per week, mostly at the weekend. I am thinking of joining a cycling club and maybe taking part in some TTs so now is the time to think about upgrading my ride. I admit I'm a complete novice when it comes to specs of gears, shifters etc and would appreciate a few opinions of what bikes would have the best overall mix of good components for a max budget of £1500. I know you can't have everything with that budget but what parts are most important to what I'm trying to do with the bike? Many Thanks

IMHO, in this order, frame, wheels, groupset. Buy the best frame you can first etc.

The deals on the 2013 models are underway and will become more numerous over the next month or two if you can wait.

Never looked at the Vitus but with those specs they look very impressive for the money. From the other thread I saw someone mention the Cannondale CAAD10 5 105 2013 Compact Road Bike and after checking it out I believe it could be the one for me. Not carbon but has a great setup and is lighter than some carbon bikes. The problem is the Mrs doesn't know I'm after a new bike and I won't be able to hide it from her so was hoping to buy on finance to spread the payments out so that I can say it's the same as gym membership or some other excuse! Do Lbs offer finance generally?

Some do. Evans, tredz, formby. Best is to look on their website. C2w even sneakier as comes off pay but technically a 1k limit and may not get best price. I looked at cannondales, seemed heavier than my carbon certainly but also my other two bikes!
