I've just jumped onto the Temu wagon. The first thing to turn up was a wall mounted crash helmet holder. Great quality, and only £4. The exact same thing on Amazon is £14.99. I have about 5 more things on order so will comment when they arrive.

I think Temu don't have to pay some sort of tax/tariff/duty so can sell without a middle man. Whereas Amazon do, but they also have a huge markup. The run of the mill plastic stuff seems to be less than half the price through Temu.

Please please don't buy anything electrical. Anything I've been passed to test at work from them has pretty much been skipped as dangerous at best. A couple lethal and passed onto trading standards. When I'm saying electrical i mean 240v upwards and not battery voltages.

Shocking how we allow these companies to entirely avoid safety, tax and consumer protections.

I've had crap before too small stuff that breaks easy etc. I bought 2 snooker tables etc drunk A4 size complete with purple balls lol. But it was a happy day! a bag for the frame faux leather, dumbell x2 (1 to keep in work) spanner, pump, and frame grips to attach to help lift over railway bridges, etc. So im happy enough.
Ive been bitten by drunk shopping not good. Also not looking at measurements etc. But bike stuff seems ok so far. Clothes and some other things are another matter so stay away.

They can only do it because they are selling and shipping from countries that don't have that protection, and there is no requirement for anything bought abroad to meet UK standards, in general (though I believe there are regulations once you have the item about connecting items without appropriate standards markings to mains electricity supply, those regulations don't prevent personal imports of those items).

And for personal imports (i.e. things bought for personal use, not for use in business), there is a de minimus limit of £135, below which no import tax is due.
