Hello, does anyone know of any good antispam programmes?

I had Zone Alarm 7 installed with antispam which was very good but unfortunately Zone Alarm 7 caused me a lot of problems including not letting the computer load.

I also have Spam Inspector 4 which I will probably install later.I have had it for a few years but I don't think it is the best of programs.

Also it was a bugger to uninstall.

So now I am running Zone Alarm 8 without the Antispam.

Thanks in Advance.(TIA)

If you can get away with a new address I'd recommend just switching to a gmail account. Ignore the gmail web interface, use the POP or IMAP options to bring the mail into Outlook or whatever, and forget that spam ever happened. Their filtering is fantastic, I receive zero spam from 5 or 6 active accounts. I use Kaspersky security which has good filtering built in, but it's turned off because it's never needed.

I have mail accounts on a private domain that I'm moving over to the google apps mail handler primarily for this reason.

Incidentally if you want a software alternative you can pick up old versions of Kaspersky for about a fiver online, and upgrades are free so you just buy a license and apply it to a downloaded new version.

I also use Kaspersky and it's ok. Very customisable but not as fast or invisible as some suggest.

I use evolution or thunderbird for email both of which have fairly powerful bayesian filtering built in. Takes a wee while to learn what is spam and what is real but far less false positives than many of the filters provided with firewalls.

If you get really stuck it's even possible to set up a forward from an existing email account to a gmail address then set up Outlook to collect the gmail but use your main account to send replies. I've never actually had a need to do that but it's easy enough to make happen. Completely transparent at both ends.

This has the advantage that your email server load can be decreased by virtue of the fact that you don't need to use much disk space - let google provide the backup and just delete everything your server receives once it's been forwarded. Of course this has security implications if you're dealing with confidential stuff.

Nah I got an antispam and I love watching it gobble up the spam emails.I have emails redirected from other email addresses to it which makes it easier.
