In my experience, the first thing that fails on a LED light (well, rear LEDs at any rate) is the switch. Especially after prolonged use in wet weather (i.e. now 
). Once that happens, I tend to throw the thing away and buy another. So I tend to go for the cheapest available which is quite adequate in my view. I bought one of those Wilkinson sets the other day too - seems a real bargain, though I haven't used the front light for anything yet. It's almost worth buying the set just for the batteries included!
For front lights, I can't really advise from my experience, since I need lights to see by. That means something much more serious (and expensive).
