anybody ever worked at a football club?

i've got an interview for a job at a football club (not football related) and wondered if they are just normal places to work or a bit of a roller-coaster ride where job security might depend on events on the pitch.

shame it's not the team i support though...

anyone worked for one, or know anyone that did?

I worked in the Chelsea box office for a few months back in the 1990's.
My mate had a full time job in the IT department for about 5 years.
It was a normal place to work, you didnt have to support Chelsea or even like football, it was just a job.
On pitch events may cause an issue as budgets get cut. If the club were relegated they would need fewer ticket office staff, fewer catering people and would do less community relations stuff etc. etc. But they would always need a core staff to keep the place ticking over.

I have a mate who works at Man U and one who works at Man City. Both work damn hard and have said that it is best to stay away from club politics as changes in the staff can be somewhat sudden if a manager goes.
Oh and if it is Macc Town may sure you get paid in advance.

sounds good advice, although i can't see the job being affected by changes in the playing staff. not macc town, although i did used to deliver their post...

My last employer had an outsourced IT contract with Southampton Football Club. I was asked if I would go there but I refused, I heard the chairman was a nightmare to deal with! Apart from that, it was a fairly standard working environment...matchday cover was quite intense mind.

A friend of mine works as the catering and events manager for Hibs. From what she has said, the football side of things is pretty separate from what's a fairly normal office environment.
