I worked at my local club as a steward for 5 years. I mostly worked in the away end where we had some right nutters to deal with,Bradford,Halifax and Burnley spring to mind! My wages were a pie a programme and a pint in the clubhouse after the game. Then they went all official and said that we had to be there from 1pm to 5.30 pm instead of my usual 3 till 5,all for 20 quid! So i jacked it in,but i get in the ground as a spectator for a fiver "for old times sake" so i can't complain.

well the interview seemed to go well, but as i've no idea who else they've seen or to see it'll be in the lap of the gods.

interestingly, they have a charity bike ride from amsterdam to london on the cards, and needless to say i showed more than a bit of interest in that…

Job security has been linked to league security at a couple of football clubs I know of, so relegation can lead to redundancies among off-field staff.

Sheff Wed are towards the bottom of the Championship, but I see they stuffed Leeds today.

can't box with you potsy, we're in different divisions :becool:
Joking apart, you only have to look at how far we have fallen and the effect it has had off the field.
We've got rid of pretty much everyone bar the ticket office staff and the directors, even the groundskeeper got let go a few weeks ago and they now have some cheap contractors popping in to cut the grass, funnily enough todays game was called off from a waterlogged pitch

Good luck though, even if you are a crewe fan

i did ask about that of course, although i mentioned my own team's now (even more) precarious position in the division below so as not to sound like i was being sarcastic.

what they said was that, for a club of their size, a drop from premier league to championship would result in an across the board downsizing of staff, a drop from championship to league one would not. it's not unknown for the club to make more money if they're fighting for promotion in league one, than fighting relegation from the championship.

i'd guess saturday's result will have been well received…
