Not sure this is the right sub forum, but anyway...

I commute through Sale Water Park, joining from Old Hall Rd in Sale Moor (junction 6 of M60 r'about) then past Jackson's Boat pub and on to Hardy Lane.

The new Manchester Airport Metrolink line will have stops at Sale Water Park and Hardy Lane. A pdf of the new route is here:

http://www.metrolink.co.uk/pdf/future_metrolink/manchester-airport-line-overview.pdf

So far it looks like they are routing the track between Rifle Rd and Sale Golf Club, then behind Jackson's boat and making Hardy Lane joint use with cars.

What I am trying to find out is how the new layout will affect the local roads, not least where they are going to locate a car park for the Sale Water Park stop (this is going to be a park and ride stop).

I've contacted Metrolink who gave me the number of someone in GMPTE but I haven't heard back.

Wondering if anyone here knows more?

400bhp that's part of my commute too. Unfit bloke with panniers on a revolution cross. Wonder what the impact will be... Rifle Road already nowhere near as nice as it used to be now they've chopped all those trees down!

What times and in what direction do you go through?

Yes it's a bit of a mess down there, especially the bit on Rifle Road just off the large roundabout and past the burger van. There's mud all over the place. I can see it being like that for a couple of years, in particular when they are putting in the bridge.

I've occasionally started going through Chorlton Water Park instead (using Yewtree Lane). At the moment they are doing some work there too but I suspect this will be my preferred route soon.

More specific details here-the planning application with all the plans.

I think it is going to become very tricky negotiating the large roundabout due to increased traffic volume.

However I think there's is a reasonable chance this stop will be a White Elephant. It will take at least 25 minutes (best guess) to get into town from the Sale Water park using the Metro - at a cost of around £5.40 (the current price from Sale). I can't see it being that much different in price and time by driving to town from that point.

That is without mentioning the tram going through Wythenshawe joining the airport.

Usually about 7.30 or so in Mcr direction, on the days I can get on the bike!
Yeah - think the Wynthenshawe line may change things quite a bit. Yew Tree Lane a bit of a detour for me. Ta for the planning details!

Does for me. Go to trafford council website, planning bit and do an advanced search with "Sale Water Park" in the Site Location box

Theres a chance I may have seen/passed you, or you passed me. I am usually going through the park around 7:15 ish-don't recall seeing a Revolution Cross - I did chat to someone going my way about 2 months ago, who was hugging the gutter when approaching the 1st roundabout. Wasn't you?

Weirdly I was looking at the Metrolink plans last night, but the Airport bit not the Sale water park section.
If traffic on Alty road is anything to go by, it's gonna be very disrupting.
