Don't get me wrong. Despite the avatar, I do quite enjoy Christmas day even if I cannot bring myself to get overly enthusiastic about the whole christmas thing.
Having said that, I am quite happy that it is out of the way and we can get back to normality. As an added bonus, we can look forward to spring and some longer days with better weather. Bye bye christmas; bring on the spring!

i'll vote for that

If I had a job working sociable hours and some family I would love to cook for all, to find or make little presents for everybody.
Normally I'm just so tired at this time of year! :tired:

Personally I can do without the over commercialised build up, but I do love the time on Christmas Day and Boxing Day with the family.
Now I simply cannot abide the ads trying to brainwash us into spending money in the sales and closely following behind all the ads for holidays.
The time off work is nice except being self employed I am not being paid whilst not working so I already know January is going to be tough as I didn't get the chance to build up a cushion before the break thanks to a couple of months late summer and autumn where I couldn't get enough work.
Once the wind stops blowing the trees down I might even try to get some decent time out on the bike - if my wife doesn't force me into DIY hell (and she is threatening it!)

yes. i had a great few days, but the whole thing is just rubbish... you are cajoled into buying gifts to them see them on sale at hugely reduced prices the day after you've given them.

however, this does mean that girlski has bought me a very nice shirt for my birthday.

glad christmas day is all over! we had both sets of parents over, so 10 to cater for. poor mrs alecetc had a disaster where all the non-turkey elements of the main christmas dinner ended up on the kitchen floor.

let's just say the five second rule was pushed to the absolute max…

I loved my Christmas day. I got to have all four of my grown up kids in the same place at the same time. One of my sons is a nurse and the other is a police officer. Getting their shifts to co-incide is a nightmare.
Plus we have a new grandchild to fall in love with.
Life is good.^_^

Oh, that's a real shame. Poor mrs alecetc.
I hope things are more successful for you both in the New Year.
