anyone had operation on feet?

I've been to a surgeon this evening about the possibility of operating on my feet. I have arthritis which has pulled my toe joints out causing pain when I walk, or cycle more than a few miles. The guy says the operations will cut the pain in the balls of my feet but he can't say what effect, if any, it will have on my cycling.

Has anyone had a similar operation? If so how did it go and did you have any problems getting back on the bike?

Ouch! I have no experience of this, but surprised he can't give you an idea of the impact on your cycling.
