I remember a book from an English syllabus 2nd year in high school, say 1990/91 and this fiction story in question involved a main character as a young boy – I think he was bullied a bit and he dreamed of having a racer style lightweight bike (he had some heavy bike he was getting by with but totally dreamt of a roadbike).
Just my memories of the descriptions of the time he experienced the feeling of lightness and speed really had an effect on me at that age.
Curious to rediscover that book but have searched high and low and through lots of cycling books, just wish I could read those words again.
Probably set in urban UK and descriptions of the wind and movement through the air.
