Amazon have these at around £65 but, as a non techie, it is not clear to me whether, with the addition of a bullet cam, I can record video. (The description states that it supports MP4 recording.

Grateful for advice.

I think mp4 is a video format so you should be ok. They aint as rugged as other units and the one they had on the gadget show seemed to have issues with the touch screen/buttons.

For the price though they do seem a bargain for a solid state recorder/player:smile:

no you have to buy a seperate capture lead called a Travel Adaptor to go with the archos. You will also need a docking station and you'll need to search for and download 2x codecs for audio and video.
I worked out it would cost me £150 mimimum to use as a helmet cam.

I have one of these for my Dogcam. I managed to get a good deal on eBay for the actual 405, but yes you do need the Travel Adapter in order to be able to record video - this does, however, also double as a charger in addition to the USB charger built into the 405.

However, I haven't needed the docking station for anything (I haven't got one)? Unless it is for playing it back on TV? Personally I record to SD card and play it back on my laptop.

What are the codecs for Peanut that need downloading? I've not noticed anything missing/not functioning without them, but if they improve quality etc. I would like to know where to get these?
