Are these worth a punt?

Looked at the up coming Lidl cycling offers and saw these panniers. http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/our-offers-2491.htm?action=showDetail&id=32422. Has anyone bought these in the past and if so are they worth a punt as I could do with some new panniers to go on my, now No. 2, bike which I plan to use for shopping trips.

I bought a pair a couple of years ago. They're fine when it's dry but, despite looking vaguely like Ortliebs, mine were very definitely not waterproof. I found that the rain covers made matters worse. They collected the water thrown off by the rear wheel and slowly immersed the contents of the panniers in an ever deepening puddle! Then again, for a tenner they might be a worthwhile punt.

Plastic bags for the contents and it's gotta be worth a go at that price

I don't know about the Lidl ones which look a little better but it would seem to me the weak point will be the mounting hooks. Take a good look at them before you buy.

I have some on my commuter, had them for about 3 years. As stated, they are not really waterproof, but I use a dry bag inside. I have yet to break a clip, but they are permanently attached. Mine were half price as clearance - a total bargain.
