I don't know why anyone is worried about being drafted. Almost invariably it's the rider behind that goes down if there's a coming together.

p.s. it's "causes collisions", not "courses accidents".

I'd just like to add I don't mind people drafting me but if you're going to, can you please make sure your bike is well maintained so I don't spend several minutes trying to work out where that strange new squeaking sound is coming from*.

*Yes I do mean you bloke in the blue jacket on the Specialized down Queensbridge Road about 9.20 am on Wednesday. Maybe if you turned your iPod down, you'd hear it too.

;) I had just the same issue. Most annoying that "my bike" developed this squeek on the rear wheel. It was only when I got to some lights and looked fully behind me that I realised it wasn't me. I commented saying "hey, I think you may have a squeek" and the response was the same iPod grin and nod. I set off from the lights and picked up the pace luckily his bike was in such a condition that he couldn't keep up.

If I do draft I tend to keep my distance and share the load with the poor person in front. Had a big headwind the other month and had a fellow commuter in front and we teamed up to beat the wind !! It was a very social experience ... However I have had the lycra clad looney behind me draft up the hill then p!ss off at the top !
