Hi,

I'd like to introduce my website www.tombrucecycling.com. There is lots of information on there about cycle touring and the various adventures I've done including tips and advice on choosing a touring bike, planning a route, what to take with you and loads more. There's also loads of photos and a blog about my adventures.

The best, the longest, and the most life changing adventure I have done is a cycle ride around the world. I cycled 14,400 miles without taking any other form of transport (with the exception of when I hit the coast!), passing through the continents of Europe, Asia and North America. It was a truly incredible experience and you can see thousands of photos from the road on my website. The highlights of the journey were the long desert crossings and the mountains of Central Asia, as well as meeting wonderful people from around the globe.

I've also written a book about the experience, more info on the site.

Many thanks, and please feel free to get in touch if I can help with any expedition planning advice or anything else,

Tom

Hi Steve,

Do you still want a copy of the book? Will be heading to the post office tomorrow anyway so let me know if you do.

You got Rohloff to give you a free hub?! How did you manage this? Most of us have to buy them and they are not cheap! Although the pics of your bike show a deraillieur transmission.

Yep - I was very fortunate, I am aware of the cost of Rohloff hubs but I'd say that they are worth every penny . I wrote to Rohloff explaining my plans and they sold me a hub at trade price with the promise of a full refund should I generate enough publicity. About a month ago, they deemed that I had raised enough awareness of the Rohloff brand through book sales and website traffic and they refunded the full amount.

Absolutely fantastic company who supported me all the way on my trip, including sending replacement parts to China and servicing the hub for free when I returned.

Cool. Replacement parts to China ……………….. what happened to it?

Btw nice website. You might want to edit out a few pics in your galleries as there are quite a few duplicates and very similar shots.

One of the spoke eyelets snapped off the edge of the hub body - not good... I rebuilt the wheel and hub in a hotel room in Xi'an with the parts they sent. I blame the bike shop that built the wheel, they did a terrible job on it (won't name and shame).

Unfortunately not got time to edit pictures at the moment - I may do so in the future but it will take a long time and got lots of other projects going on which will take priority.
