i treated myself to some assos bib shorts juxt before christmas and can't beleive how good they are ......good by saddle sores ......is there a brand of equal quality or is it a case of you get what you pay for?

Depends on the shape of your posterior. Castelli are good, nice pad, same with Sportful. I think Assos pads are made by Cytek, same as a load of other brands use so you could start looking there. The cut and fit might be an issue though, bunching up isn't cool.

Assos is amazing stuff, I have some Mille shorts. I also have some sportful norain shorts that are equally amazing. I also swear by gore for top half clothing. It's outstanding.

i was looking at gore phantom for a top as the assos airjack is a little expensive ....think i'll take a look at the sportful as heard couple of good reviews

Assos is great, also Etxeondo, not widely seen in the UK.
Lots of lovely kit these days, no need to stick a newspaper under the jersey to keep warm these days.

Unfortunately in terms of shorts i've found that nothing matches Assos for comfort.

Did 2 rides this weekend wearing my DHB tights as it was too warm for my Assos winter tights. My ass really noticed the difference on the second ride. Ouch

Another vote for Castelli, love the brand and style, plus the X3 pads are very nice on the old bum.

Shows that what's good for one person is not necessarily good for someone else.
I have done more miles in DHB tights then other more expensive ones that I have. And find the DHB ones far comfier for long rides.
