I find astronomy the most frustrating hobby in the UK, my set up over a thousand quids worth sits in a large trunk in the garage for most of it's time due to clouds and there is no way around it. As all ready mentioned put Stellarium on your computer and enjoy astronomy in the comfort for your home 24/7 come rain or shine

Another endorsement of Stargazers Lounge. Superb advice always. I have a Meade 8" GPS scope and a 6" Celestron, but still find myself returning to the classic targets: M42, Saturn, Jupiter, the Double Cluster and the brighter globulars (e.g. M13). I tend to end on the moon as it's utterly blinding but magnificent.

Same here with the Meade scope, i used the 12" LX90 but it became a little to heavy for me to move around in the end, i sold it on the stargazers lounge last year.
Loved the scope though.
I know what you mean about the moon being blinding through the scope when not used through a filter, i used to like tracking across the moon with the scope speed set to number one, absolutely fantastic large clear images.
Have you tried any stacking images with the Meade DSI camera, (or similar) I only used it on auto mind but it worked a treat most times, I was never much good at imagine though other than using it on auto.

I never liked being out in the cold weather either, thought about buying an Astro Dome once upon a time to cut out external light and maybe feel a little warmer, but never got around to it in the end.

I have only taken images with a DSLR, had a lot of fun though. Never did get into stacking as just like cycling, it becomes addictive and extremely expensive!

A beautiful crescent moon and Venus are very clear tonight in the Western sky.
Venus is just to the right of the moon.

Nice view of that from our front garden, I had the telescope out last night though and didn't feel like setting it up again tonight.

Good job as well, ten minutes later the clouds and rain appeared. 😂
