Aussies always do make the best road safety adverts.

If there has even been a road safety advert I remember it is an Aussie one. British ones seemed to have stopped or got soft. The general public don't seem to like the truth. Point shown when they made that rail track one with the family on a bike ride.

Watch your speed. A huge point in this advert as well. OTHERS make mistakes too.

This wasn't impactful?

That's an old one and offcom had a field day with it. Few thousands complaints

Why isn't the 4 min+ anti texting one shown on national television? Something needs to shock these inconsiderate "my life and time is worth more than your life", bastards into stopping their totally dangerous anti social activities! I could write paragraphs about my experiences as a cyclist pedestrian and motorist where i've had to dodge their vehicles being driven without due care and attention, while the morons have their eyes glued to a small screen totally oblivious to what they are doing to other road users! If you gesticulate to them that they are committing an offence they take it as an insult and react either in an aggressive manner or use a mocking jesture. How i wish one would come unstuck before my eyes affecting only themselves, but they usually take someone with them, as we saw in the film!

The bit that got me in that ad wasn't the moronic texting girls, it was the little girl in the back of the car wanting her mummy and daddy to wake up...
Best one is the street boy racer in the country. Flips the cars the car and crushes a couple kissing in a wall. Crushing the boyfriend and the girls legs as she's sitting on the wall

I wonder about the usefulness of these films sometimes. People who text while driving, for example, just assume it won't happen to them. Whatever you show them, they think they are the one person who can do it and not have a problem.

I guess a proportion of people take note, but I fear there are a lot who just won't change until/unless it happens to them. Unfortunately, when it does, it won't necessarily kill them, or them alone.

Social pressure, as with drink driving, will work, for some, eventually, but as there are still people drinking and driving out there, even that doesn't always work.
