Automatic Mechanical Shifting

Spotted a bike locked up with a decal stating "Automatic Shifting", upon closer inspection I found this. An automatic mechanical shifting mech, never seen anything like it, so thought I'd share.

I think that there is a seller on Ebay that flogs them, don't know if it is the same but sure I've seen them listed.

Shimano did a hub based 3 speed auto shifter that used a cadence sensor, it did require a battery though.

I've not seen those before but did have a trip down memory lane at the protector on the frame. Not seen one of those for a long time. I'm not sure I'd want my gears changing in that way although I guess on regular routes you'd anticipate the changes.
