This bridge gets worse.Already one cycle lane blocked off most the time,i found the south direction cycle lane full up with crap and scaffolding poles. As they didn't bother putting any sort of warning up I ended up climbing over the concrete barrier thing at just after 430am. I wont use this bridge again in a hurry. Also Blackfriars Bridge is a mess, north end of the bridge. Also temporary traffic light on Southwark Bridge.Im sick and tired by the amount of these popping up everywhere.

Why not just ride in the road? Why worry about a blocked cycle lane? Most of them are next to useless anyway....

I take it you dont know what Southwark Bridge is like then?
Temporary traffic lights in the now one laned for two directions of traffic.I didn't know that the cycle lane was blocked till I got down to the South Side.Just because other people don't like cycle lanes im sure I can make up my own mind whether I should use them or not.TIA.

I know what it's like without the roadworks, haven't seen what they are doing to it at the moment.

Do what you want with cycle lanes, just don't see why it being closed off is a problem, just ride the road as normal. If you don't want to get squeezed as people overtake, ride faster and take the middle of the road...

Closed off was a problem this morning as I didn't see that I couldn't get out of the cycle lane till i got to the south side of the bridge.
Ride faster? Wish I could.

Friend of mine has a titanium plate in her head on account of being run over from behind in the cycle lane on Blackfriars Bridge. Dozy bint in a 4x4 just ran over her. Wasn't charged with anything.

Blackfriars Bridge is pretty frightening northbound at the moment. The Babe gets the Nuclear Escort treatment - frightening stares at motorists who squeeze in on her from the right where the roadworks reduce the width of the road.

Southwark southbound I've never had a problem with - and I've never used the cycle lane. The volume and speed of traffic isn't so very great. Perhaps I've been fortunate....

Blackfriars Bridge is a nightmare at the moment.Just used Waterloo bridge and I will try London Bridge when workbound tommorow.

Much of South london is broken due to the Thames water 'upgrading' (adding water meters. There's a few choke points on the A3 and around Waterloo. Problem is it'll go on for months, but still lets hope it's down before the A3 gets it's super-highway status.

They shut the cycle lane @ the north end of BF Bridge then re-opened it then shut it again! Quite annoying because you never know if it will be open or not now until you're right in front of it (due to the right hand bend straight after the lights). It will be a mess there for a long time I think :shy:

That could apply to either bridge.

Bloody cycle lane on Southwark is always closed and as scouserinlondon said there are bloody roadworks everywhere.Added to the fact I have to pass the 2012 site and thats a mess as well.
