I had a grey (import) VFR400, cracking little bike. I used it on track days primarily as it wasn't the most comfortable of bikes to ride any distance. I still think of it with great fondness and I do sometimes wish I still had it. Handled beautifully.

Likewise my RVF400. Brilliant bike, but on the road I found it a liability. Completely lacking in self discipline I rode it flat out everywhere with the inevitable consequences, crashed it at Mallory Park on a track day, then crashed it very near Cadwell Park on the way to a trackday, and had too many near collisions, so I flogged it before it killed me. I had a Fireblade at the same time and found that a much more sensible road bike!

Norm, on the M1 a few weeks ago I saw a German registered van pulling a trailer which was loaded up with Buells. I'm guessing the van was full of them too. Very strong market for them over there. France too, I believe.
I MOT'd my X1 today, and celebrated its clean ticket by allowing its first run out for a few months.

Damn but it makes me grin.

I'm, sadly, agreeing with the OP, just cleaning my last bike up (Honda Dominator), prior to it's sale. When I was younger I could never understand how middle aged people gave up something as "fun" as motorcycling. Even up to only a few years ago, I could never see myself giving up, I've had a bike since I was 16, 32 years ago. I think the slide started when I began to cycle again, I felt "free", like did when I first started motorbiking.

Not having to wear a helmet was nice, that's the thing I don't like about motorcycling, apart from gloves I don't wear or even own any other protective gear. I began to enjoy the feeling you get after hard physcial exercise too and more and more, on a sunny day or a weekend, I'd choose the cycle, the motorbikes have hardly been used these past 2 years.

I'll be sad to se the last one go but I have a vintage Vespa to tootle around on for the times when I need a motorised fix.
