I'm off to Leeds next week. Last time I was there was at the turn of the last century (quite literally). So what's new? I've also got to accompany a party of eight -twelve out in the City Centre on the Thursday night - any restaurants or pubs/clubs worth frequenting? I've got at least five Yanks in tow, so it should be interesting to see how they tackle a Yorkshire accent.

'ow do!

Leeds has some really good restaurants and electric 'n everything now ChrisKH. Try the Playhouse at the bottom of the Headrow or you could visit The Armouries [Imperial War Museum in the Canal Basin].... probably loads of references to the American War of Independence and WW2 for drunken hostilities!

There's not much to go on in the way of age group, budget etc!

You could try Anthony's either the posh restaurant on Boar Lane or the cheaper bistro 'Piazza by Anthony' in the Corn Exchange, which is a lovely buidling. From either it is a short walk to the lower end of Briggate and the railway arches where there are some decent bars. not all of which are 'LGBT' venues! Alternatively go to Millenium Square or 'The Light' where there are quite a few bars and restaurants, including most of the usual chains. Spice Quarter is a good all you can eat curry house. The other restaurant area is on the streets opposite the Town Hall and going down Park Row, where there's a Jamie's Italian and a reasonable choice of other chain restaurants Ask!, La Tasca etc.

Thanks Guys. Group age starts at 37+. Budget; there isn't one, so posh would be nice. Offices are in Park Lane.

Don't worry, Chris, the plaque is still there!

I eat here every Thursday night with my fellow Captains of Industry. It may not be striking enough for your party, but it's very pleasant. http://www.wix.com/k...oore/cornercafe

There are loads of places in the City Centre. Greek Street has a very good Japanese noodle place but a reliable place on the waterfront is Leodis

If you can sneak a ride or two in take a bike with you. Road or off road is excellent around Leeds. Hills and hills and gills. If any in the party are runners you could introduce them to fell running.

I've not been to Leeds for a long time but it is a good place to be in the evenings. Just watch out for the tiny tiny minority of thugs and BNP louts. The same as any city of course. As someone from near Leeds I still say the name of the city with disdain so I can't speak too kindly of it ;-)

I'll tell you how Yorkshire has bloody changed. They've turned the chip shop on the corner of my road into a tapas bar!
