but who else does great flowers that look really good? The above are not inspiring me with their collections for new born boys (plenty for girls) and I don't want all white. This is for a home delivery not hospital so we have that covered.

I'm after something special and can't really find anything in white & blue that looks nice. Ideally with vase as well. They are for my nephew and partner, first time teenage mother and 20 year old father.

thanks

You can't really be sure what you are going to get, at least with Interflora - a lot of discretion is left to the florist (what is in season, available). I've seen (lovely) arrangements very different to in the catalogue.

So, maybe find a florist within delivery range of the family with good reviews, call them and talk to the florist about what you want and what you want to pay. I think you might get a better result that way.

And congrats on becoming an aunty

I am a flower cynic so my advice is probably useless - if I have done anything bad enough to warrant Mrs Milkfloat to get flowers then she gets something potted, so that at least it lasts. If you are going the cut flowers route can I suggest something that comes ready to display, as I cannot imagine too many teenage mothers have a plethora of vases to choose from.

If it were my money I would get something practical like a set of muslins.

vase is pretty much mandatory. I don't do flowers without. As for clothing as a more practical 'gift'. they have had plenty of that. I just wanted something to brighten up a corner for a while nothing more. none of our family will be giving them flowers. they are not that type of family hence why I thought I would. sometimes something like that is nice when you don't have any spare money. they don't live off benefits, he works long hard hours to provide for them and was raised to do so. I just though flowers and some chocolates would be a nice change for her.

If they don't have any spare money then clothes would be a much better and more welcome present.

You could always choose 6-12 month clothes instead of newborns, hardly anyone does that and it makes much more sense than yet another newborn babygro!

both families will have done this. they are both Manchester working class families down to a tee.
It is also not what I am after for them, thank you. This is not 'only' what I am getting them. I have been saving (I have had 9 months notice! well 7 I think it was, but who is counting) and have the money for gifts and flowers.

Could you arrange a baby sitter and dinner for 2? That might be a nice for them.
it's a bit too early days for that. That is much further down the road.

Find a local florist (yell.com?), chat to them on the phone. When I've wanted to buy flowers, I've always found it best to just talk to the final point in the line. If they want you to go through interflora (because they are linked in or some such) make sure what to ask for to get what you've discussed. Particularly useful if you are buying for someone who doesn't like certain colours, or has a pathological hatred for chrysanthemums.

When Our twins were born we were given a beautiful bunch of blue and white irises, (together with pink, which are not relevant) Sorry I cannot tell you the supplier, but hope it gives you an idea if you go to a local florist.

We got flowers from the MIL. Stupid lilies got pollen over everything which I'm sure can't be good for the baby. "You'll just need to trim the brown bits" she said. Bugger that. We've got something else more important we're trying to keep alive for the time being thank you very much.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Why does it have to be blue for a baby boy? Just send the parents some nice flowers.
