Sitting at may desk in the office, bike up against the radiator in the corner. Loud pop, followed by a long hiss, and my back tire has gone flat. WTF!!!
Nothing near it. Got to change the bloody tube now.

Own up - which one of you used the "p" word.

I had the same thing happen to me last night - but the bike was in a cold room. Reckon a pinch puncture?

Have had a MTB tyre and inner tube explode on a hot day after I had cleaned it. Scared the sh*t out of me.

Yeah, reckon so, I've had the same happen, in a room temperature room, it was the tyre not quite seated right. Fixed it, it happened again, only parked up on campus (so I'd ridden on it). Turned out the rim and tyre weren't quite compatible.

I was sat outside a coffee shop with some friends on a ride out in the summer, while we sat there one of the chaps bikes did the same thing, it was in the shade in the sheffield stands, back tyre just popped and went down, no apparent reason, for some reason we all found it absurdly funny. The p**cture fairy is invisible you know?

Repaired it last night. There was a piece of swarf which had gone straight through the tyre. From the LBS who fitted the wheel no doubt!!! The inner tube was tat that they put in though, I could have punctured it with a wooden spoon.
