Back wheel rocking from side to side

Hi there,

Just checking the pressure in the tyres when I noticed that I can rock the rear wheel slightly from side to side. I hadn't noticed anything when riding this week. I checked the tightness of the quick release and that seems fine. Any ideas?

Cones are loose.

Should just be able to tighten them but you will need cone spanners which are thinner than normal spanners unless you have cartridge bearings then you would just be able to tighten with normal spanners , on my fulcrum 5s I just tighten them up with my fingers .

Aye they are cup and cone I think , you will need cone spanners, popular wheels so someone should know the sizes of spanners you need.

The cone holds the wheel bearings in the wheel, fwiw I ran wheels with loose cones for over a thousand miles .

If you get the lbs to fix it I would get him to put new bearings in while he is at it , they might be worn hence why the cones are loose.

many modern wheels use a big spacer between the cone and the locknut so you can use all ordinary spanners
