Backup strategy...

Now that I have my new and very shiny external hard disk drive has arrived, should I just rely on the Windows 7 backup to do its stuff? I assume it will back up all the important bits of my PC as well as all my documents, photos and stuff................... Or is there something else you would recommend?

I'm still on XP so haven't tried the Windows 7 utility, but I'm sure it works fine and I'd stick to that unless you have some special backup requirements.

In the past I have used Handy Backup and Winzip, and there are loads of other utilities on the net. These will give you a bit more control over what you backup, but also may require you to do a bit more faffing about.

I use the back up program which came with my external drive (WD SmartWare) for the weekly backups to the external disk, and Memeo Backup for the live backups to the NAS drives. I also use the Win7 utility to back up my work documents to a USB stick and that works just fine.
