I heard putting food on top of the lawn so they stop digging for it works.

Sadly it has the opposite effect. We have badgers in the garden every night. We used to put leftovers out. Once they'd finished the leftovers, they'd start on the lawn, seeing as they were there anyway.

We've stopped putting food out and blocked some access points. It's reduced the visits but not stopped them completely. Several setts nearby so they are used to visiting gardens to get worms, beetles etc. I don't think we'll be able to stop them completely

Badgers can do that...........
