I need a bigger capicity bag for this years planned rides. I'm thinking 4 litres approx

Does having a handlebar bag of a good size affect stearing?

and

Can a seatpost bag of the same size be used on a carbon post?

Which is best?

Thanks, Neil.

It all depends what you carry in the bag.
Waterproof, wallet, light multitool, light pump, inner tube, energy bars etc will not affect your steering to a large degree.
Filled water bottles etc will.
Same applies to a bag on a carbon post.

As per rollinstok. That said I use a Carradice Barley and a SQR System to mount it on my Look 555 which has a carbon set post. So far so good and the Carradice Barley has a capacity of nine litres.

Thanks chaps. I dont think i'll be carrying heavy things, as full bottles will go on the frame.
Its more a case of being able to pack more clothing and food to cater for long journey's - though I have no experience of this yet.

You can put a fair weight in a barbag without affecting the handling. But note the law that says luggage expands to fill the space available.

In my experience, you need most storage for undressing into rather than carrying things in case.
Set off at 6am wearing longs, a long sleeve top, and possibly a gilet and gloves too; then find that it's warmed up enough by lunch time that you are down to shorts and short sleeves. The longs & extra top have to go somewhere, possibly as well as the waterproof top. Something the size of a Barley is about right.
You can of course make a judgement, and be too cold early and too hot later, but that's your call.
