Basket for mountain bike

I have just bought myself a mountain bike and would like a basket for the front.

Is there any particular type of basket that suits a mountain bike for those occasions when i nip out to the shop for some milk etc.

a wire mesh basket would probably look better than a wicker one

Really depends one what you like, you can get handmade wicker baskets like this or modern wire ones like this. Some cycle mechanics hate them because they get in the way of the cables, but millions of cyclist on the content use them.
