The standard of reporters/presenters on the Beeb is going to pot. There was a similar thing on Radio 4 a few weeks back if I remember correctly. Maybe they were on the pot or had been in the pub for a while before starting work?

Nah, it's been going on forever. The difference is that in the past, if you didn't hear or see it yourself, and it didn't get picked up on a blooper show, it was forgotten. Nowadays, someone's got it on YouTube before the hour is out.
