Writer and broadcaster Samira Ahmed is fascinated by photography, both historically and in the present day. Her episode of Artsnight will consider the impact that a single photographic image can have - even in a modern age when nearly every person has a camera on them at all times and photos are in endless supply.
The programme will focus on a series of brilliant British photographers. They include Giles Duley HonFRPS, who lost three of his limbs while documenting a warzone in Afghanistan, and Richard Billingham, who has made a film with Benefit Street’s Deirdre Kelly ‘White Dee’ about his parents, whom he has extensively photographed. And Martin Parr HonFRPS will create a specially commissioned work just for the programme.
The programme was filmed at Bradford’s National Media Museum.
