Dorney is great - as a kid, in winter when the common used to flood and then freeze it made a great place to slip around on the ice - unless you were my Dad who was obviously heavier than us and went through.

And my mum used to do milk recording at one of the farms on the common.

Is the milk pretty noisy then?

Very funny ... though I had to think about it for 2 seconds first....

As well as doing common cows ... she also used to record some very uncommon cows up the road ... and even had the key to the gates - it was a big old metal thing (as the guard wasn't there at 5 am then). I doubt they would give her the key these days.

The cattle grids at each 'end' of the common are a bit 'tasty'! The first one took me by surprise - I used the 'peasant' gate next time!

Nice area though, and offered a different view of Windsor Castle

There's a really funny-ish piece on Dorney on a spoof wikipedia site somewhere. I'll go look for it.

One for triv fans: the first pineapple grown in England was grown in Dorney, hence the name of the local there.
