He didn't put the chain through his frame. Rookie mistake!! especially considering he's got quick release wheels!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like an expensive mistake.
I once had my old mountain bike stolen from outside my office and I had the cable (ok it wasn't the best lock) through the frame and front wheel!
Now I park it underground where we have 24hr surveillance...and anchored with an Abus City Chain X Plus

In a past life i enjoyed a brand new MTB for a day.....until someone decided to cut through my reinforced cable lock that cost me 50 squid. All that cocky, reassuring confidence i had when i went into work drained from me like a good dose of Dehli belly. Now i wire my bike to the nearest mains socket.

Actually going off subject i heard that Amsterdam has or used to have scheme were people would just leave them old sit up and beg bikes wherever they wanted. A bit like that scheme in Paris only no money involved. The logic goes that no one would steal them because they would be worthless! Maybe Blondie Boris will bring it in?
