Well,I've done it!

Thanks everybody for your suggestions and ideas but I went and put down a deposit on a specialized sirrus elite. After weighing up the pros and cons, I decided that this was best for me! So here's a list of my purchases today-

specialized sirrus elite
race blade mud guards
kryptonite combination lock
black panniers rack
outer edge panniers
armadillo elite tyre upgrade
specialized multi-tool
incite 8i lights( can't read his writing very well!)
ribcage black bootle holder
hirtool mini underseat bag
and a small pump that I can't make out the name of!

As this is my first"serious" bike I opted for middle of the road accesories.

I suppose I should get a helmet too but I'll wait until I pick the bike up and then get one.

All this came to the princely sum of £973.95! The cost of buying it through the cyclescheme is roughly £575 so I've saved a few bob.

Now all I need is some extra stamina- funnily enough the Nike shop couldn't sell me that..........

P.s - excuse the typing but I'm on my iPhone on the a7 near Galashiels!

Is that a D Lock, didnt know Krypto did combination locks? If it isnt a D Lock then I'd suggest one as they're harder to cut/wrench off than cable locks.

It's not a D lock but the salesman did say it was kryptonite-I'll check just to
make sure!

Iwasnt sure if I could secure a d lock to the bike so I opted for a chain but may rethink that one........

I think it will be the start of next month. The cyclescheme starts on the 29th of this month but I can fill the forms in on our internal intranet so hopefully pick it up soon after that!

My sirrus has underwent a few changes but when it was in service as a commuter it took a D Lock no problem.

btw The only problem with the Sirrus is its such a good bike that it introduces you to speed which can be addictive and you end up spending more money on a dropped bar bike

...Second the comments on getting a D-lock, essential for bike security - though mind you, nothing will stop the most determined thief.

Excellent shopping, sounds like you had a great one! Happy riding- let us know how you get on.

Exactly, you'll just slow them down or help them choose an easier target. Plenty of good threads on here about locks.
