My bike computer has packed in and I'm looking for a replacement. I don't have a huge budget at the moment so was wondering if anyone has any good affordable recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

Had these on a few bikes, never had an issue

I have one of these too, does a bit more than the Velo http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Cateye-Commuter-Computer_41572.htm

Depends what you want out of it. I have a budget Cateye that records mileage and odometer and not much else which I bought for 12 quid. under 20 quid will get you a Cateye that does that and record lapsed time and average speed. What more could anyone possibly want?

I have had cheap Cateye's and cheap Sigma's. I much prefer the Sigma ones, they have a bigger clearer display and will also let you input a previous odometer reading which is useful from your old computer. I have had a Cateye Velo 8 and the cheapest wireless one that they did (I am sure it was a Velo wireless) and neither allowed you to do this (checked the instructions and online). This really anoyed me with the Velo wireless as one day it decided to lose all it's data for no reason at all. The more expensive Cateye ones allow you to do this, I have a more expensive Cateye wireless one with cadence that I got off Ebay as it was cheap and it has been fine. Why the cheaper ones (well the ones I had) cannot is pretty poor IMHO.

I lost the Velo 8 when it decided to come off its mounting. The twist lock mounting on the Sigma BC1009 that I replaced it is a much more secure system.

I have the cateye micro wireless (older model) (£35) which comes in under your budget. been a stunning little bit of kit which is not easily, accidentally reset, allows for old odo reading to be entred when new batteries needed and has a 2nd bike option (with different wheel size) and also for 2 distance trips as well as odo. only reason I have something different on my road bike is that I wanted one with cadence as well. Ribble cycles are currently selling it at £31.56 http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/ro...rs-cateye-micro-wireless-computer/catecomp503. I like this one because when I reached 9,999 km, instead of going back to 0 km it has enough digits to handle 10,000km and carry on recording...

the cateye strada cadence (wired) is coming in at £28.36 under their special offer (20% off over £35 in basket offer) at the moment on Ribble Cycles http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/ro...-9-with-cadence-computer/catecomp327000000000

Have you thought about a waterproof phone holder? most smartphones can link to strava and my blackberry using gpspeedometer tells me a lot more than my broken cycle computer ever did, obviously I would have preferred to upgrade to a garmin but funds wouldn't allow it.
