Best of the instant coffees?

Once a week I have a real cappuccino coffee at a coffee shop, but I want to try a DIY alternative, so suggestions please.

Instant cappucinos are universally awful - like drinking hot phlegm. Just have Nescafe Alta Rica at twice the amount specified with hot milk.

Douwe Egberts dark roast is not too bad for an instant coffee.

Instead of instant coffee , have you considered getting a coffee plunger? That's a workable DIY alternative.

Best instant I have found is Nescafe Gold Blend, Barista style. But it's not as good as fresh ground coffee by a long shot

Best instant I've drunk is milicano. Or waitrose own brand whole bean.

Nescafe Azera is my current favourite, especially when it's half price in Tesco

I really like Lavazza espresso in a cafetiere, it is my coffee of choice at home.

Aeropress works ok for me when travelling, ROK looks nice.
But if the OP really insists on instant Nescafe Azera I've found the least offensive

If you don't want to lay out much cash get a stove top pot to make a decent espresso for your cappuccino.

Can I remind you all that Nescafe are owned by Nestle and should therefore be avoided at all costs?

Another vote for Aeropress here. It's not instant but it's only marginally more hassle and certainly less complicated than stove top espresso

INSTANT coffee!!!!!!


Cafetiere ... simples. Put whatever ground coffee takes yer fancy in it.
Life really is too short to drink INSTANT coffee.

Quite a lot of waste produced though, and at a premium price. A triumph of marketing - we had coffee making sussed years ago. As others have said, get a cafetiere.
