As above - i have my MTB for now, so whats the best time of year to buy a new bike (sales, discounts etc)

Some folks say it's better to buy last years model as they will always be at a lower price - even then what's the best time of year to walk into your lbs with the readies?

end of August, Early september. most new models come out in September so dealers may try to get rid of last years model with some hefty discount.

Probably late summer / early autumn just as the 2013 models are coming on line. They will discount the 2012 models.

Depends on model, make etc. If you aren't fussed then you could get upto 50% sometimes. Most major manufacturers won't give that much though 10% 20% !

But keep your eye out. Got a budget to blow yet ?

Also depends on the type of bike.

Autumn tends to be good for road bikes (racers, sportive bikes) & tourers. Cyclocross tend to be full price as they're just starting the racing season.

MTBs are popular year-round, so it's a case of when the retailer wants to offload old stock.
