have been wearing my Altura Night Vision but I think I may steam gently to death as it gets warmer, not sure what to replace it with over the next couple of months, summer will probably be a t'shirt but am after something in between, what are you lot wearing this coming week, have to say I am very sold on the Lycra legging things, so comfy and they dont pull down or ride up, not sure I want a full skin tight outfit though !

Windstopper and longs got washed over the weekend, saw the state of things this morning and threw em in the cupboard, hopefully there they'll stay - shorts, helly-hanson merino, t-shirt over the top. Was spot on, probably too warm on the way back.

Nice morning, still suffused with a happy-clappy warm glow! How long Monday morn at work will take to rub it off is the question? About 15mins imo!

Couple of base layers and a cycling long sleve - think just the one base layer on the way home - and ron hill bikesters - shorts may come out if this weather stays warm.

Very cold when I left home this morning. 2C feeling like 0C, its due to be 15C when I go home. Do I need to have two lots of clothing, longs and thermal for the morning and shorts and T shirt for going home!

The forecats later in the week is -1C feeling like -2C.

Shorts all year round for my commute. What benefits are there for wearing longs? Legs are working all the time so never get particularly cold, even through the winter.

Depends really. Not buggering your knees is the big plus of longs for most, but if you've particularly hardy knees, it may not be a consideration.

I ummed and ahhed this morning about whether to wear my long thermal tights or my 3/4 thingies. I plumped for the longs in the end and am now regretting it. I was way too hot this morning and will cook on the way home.

Don't you find that being a bit cold makes you want to peddle that bit faster anyway to get warm - it's gotta be good for you?!!

I abandoned the skull cap and the scarf and inner gloves a few weeks ago though.

Where are you Levad that it's going to be that cold this week!?;)

I went with a my long bib Freddie Mercury type Lycra garments and for the first time didnt throw the Altura Nigth vision over the top, i bought a Cycling Long Sleeved Jersey from Decathlon so today, for the first time I am fully in Lycra, fine on the bike but I feel a bit self concious away from it, the walk through the office will be interesting later today.

It was funny today, a combination of putting my slicks back on and being, for me, comparatively aerodynamic saw my average go up to 17 mph, hitting 20 mph a lot of the way, 25 on the flat at one point which for me is unheard of for me, I accept there may be a slight Placebo effect and feeling quite good after 2 days restbut it just felt easy after four or five months of semi knobbly tyres and a big coat, am on a Cannondale Bad Boy with panniers, was hoping for a boost in speed and it seemed to work, best last year was 15.5 average on the slicks, no panniers, so a winters worth of slog seems to have provided some benefit, the additional speed seems to make it easier to deal with traffic as well.

Now want to see what I can do with no panniers on drops on a nice light roadie.
