If you thought Glasgow's car-free city centre on Skyride day used an interesting interpretation of "city-centre", the toon cooncil has excelled itself again.

"On Tuesday 22 September, it is "In Town Without My Car" day and South Frederick Street in front of the City Chambers will close to all traffic from 8am until 6pm to enable the public to experience a car free extension to George Square." (my emphasis)

Those unfamiliar with Glasgow, can see the town without cars between between the white cenotaph and building behind it at...

Superb. I wonder how much it cost, to close that yard and a half of road for the day too.

Still, it's a start. Remember a couple of years back, car free day was held on a Sunday in Britain, as opposed to the continental Tuesday, so that people driving to work wouldn't be inconvenienced*...

*By what? Ignoring the whole thing like they've done today?
