It doesn't matter what shape the crank is, it will still only do what a straight crank will do, absolutely no gain from having a bent one

Don't get it, top dead centre is a function of leg muscles, not crank shape. When the peddle is at the top the foot is at the top, no difference.

Top dead centre is a function of geometry not leg muscles. It's a bit of a misnomer to call it top dead centre because the force applied to a pedal is rarely vertical so dead centre is actually anywhere but at the top.
