Longer legs? 
I get that all the time in the swimming pool - people zoom past me and when I watch them underwater they don't seem to be doing anything different to what I do. Last week when the swimming club were in I set off with what I think of as a brisk front crawl, plus training fins, and some 12 year old swimming breast stroke set off half a length behind me and beat me to the other end. Easily.
