Hi All

I came across this site yesterday and I thought it was fantastic.

I have read a few posts and now I would like some advice as well.

I have been cycling to work now for about 18 months on a MTB with Full suspension.
I have now taken up the option of the CTW scheme and taken £500.
As I have a little lad this year Im taking the option to buy a hybrid as I think it gives me more flexibility.

My stats are im 6ft 3 just under 16 stones and have lost a stone (nearly as ive been watching the cals) I now want to start taking this cycling a bit more seriously.

I was looking at the specialized Vienna 3 disc but then came across the boardman comp bike

So fellow buddies what about the 2 choices about and im sure somebody can throw in another curve ball.

Thanks

Hello and welcome to CC :sun:

The Boardman Comp hybrid is a very nice bike, and a good spec. I have the Comp road bike version and I am extremely happy with it.

I think the Boardman also looks more 'sporty' if that's important ?

You really need to ride them to make your mind up though - recommendation is one thing, but trying the bike out is very important.

Hope this helps a bit...

Daniel.

Boardman's are good bikes, but the service you get at Halfords can be very patchy.

There are plenty of people on this forum who have had a good experience of Halfords, but others have had a pretty shocking experience. I suspect it is very much down to how good the staff are in each individual branch.

If you have the option with your CTW scheme, I would try a local bike shop first. There are lots of other options you could go for apart from a Bordman, and if you find a good LBS you stand a much better chance of end up with a bike that fits you and is correctly set up.

Reading all of these replies ill cruise around Crewe today and check out the LBS that I know of.
My company use Halfords for the scheme but Ill check out the other BS as I will probably take my new bike there for its service.

Its like Christmas deciding which bike to purchase.;)

I got my Sirrus through our CTW scheme which means I had to get it through Halfords. If you get a bike they don't supply themselves make sure you get sized properly for it as they won't change bikes which they don't personally sell. In my case I ended up with a bike that is too small for me.

Better luck for me this year, I hope.
