Is anyone else's work celebrating/doing anything to promote National Bike to Work week?

Quite impressed with my employer's response - free "breakfast" (probably lunch as it has to be redeemed at a sandwich shop) for cyclists, drop in session for a free bike check, and maintenance courses.

Nothing special happening where I work. No free breakfasts, no maintenance clinics... just another week for me and my bike.

My employer used to do free breakfasts, but they've stopped them.

There's a free breakfast in the Market Square in Nottingham on Weds, courtesy of the City Council.

some people at my work live quite close but wont cycle cos they cant be assed.
Yep, we've got one of those. He'd actually be quickest to walk (< 1 mile*) but it's easier to drive and moan about the price of fuel and the amount of traffic.

* closer to 2 miles to drive due to having to go "the long way" round.

And of course the Great Nottinghamshire Bike Ride on the 21st which is being bundled into the week.

Broadways Cinema is starting the week off with a showing of Overcoming (PG) and also a documentary about the Magnificent Revolution cycle powered cinema on Sunday 14th...

County hall has a transporter full of Raleigh bikes coming to be shown/trialled by the staff and I seem to remember a freeride display happening at some point in the Market Square too.

I know it isn't really work based for most, but as I work with some of the organisers, it is for me!

My work are cycle unfreindly, so I'll have my tyres slashed or something. But I will be off shift next week so might do my own free breakfast

My employer has in previous years.

We had free bacon/sausage butties (or fruit salad).
One or two "Dr Bike" drop in maintainence sessions.
There was a TT from site upto the Wyche Cutting (~2.5 miles and ~900ft climb).
Last year had a slow bike race (won by a track-stander) and a north-shore type course built on the area outside the canteen.

This year however, I heard nothing. And I was going to enter the TT this year, I've even been practising occassionally as part of my homebound commute.

Guided rides for new folk, small number of free hire bikes for folk without bikes, cycle training, freebies (not sure what) security marking for bikes, raffle for people that ride in on BTW day...

Sign up and you might even get to meet Fossy and I, as the promo leaflet doesn't say...

I think the Manchester Security marking is going along the line of a 'permanent' sticker, which will then be logged on a database held by the Uni and Police. Previously, there has been free data tagging, but the 'sources' recon this is more 'high profile' so might help deter more thefts from the area.

1st hundred folk to turn up on Monday at EBC in Rusholme at 10.00am get a free 'check over' and some 'goodies' - multi tool, puncture kit....

Just hoping it's going to be dry this time - was a bit grim last year. I'll be taking 26" and 700c tubes, and an adjustable spanner....

Someone told me about this today on the way in but didn't know when it was. Oh well, missed it. How do you find out that these things are happening....is it just word of mouth or do you have to buy the Nottm. Evening Post (I'd rather go without the free breakfast!).
